True North Strong and Free

"On the Liverpool side of the estuary (River Mersey) the Liverpool Docks stretch for over 7 miles. This is the largest enclosed interconnected dock system in the world." okay so there is more than Albert Dock to see...

So with blue sky in all directions we headed down to the Pier Head, and the docks around it for a walk around.

"The Pier Head is the World Heritage site in Liverpool, that features three striking buildings known as the Three Graces: The Cunard Building; The Port of Liverpool Building, and The Royal Liver Building . " Okay now I will take a picture of the Royal Liver building!

Notice the two liver birds on the top? This city LOVES these birds! They are part of the city logo, on their soccer uniform... They are more popular than the penguins and lambanana. But not to me, which is why you are just seeing them for the first time now. I think if someone sculpted a Liverlambanana ... well talk about a big ticket piece of art!

And it didn't take us long to figure out what made this area special to us:

The Boulevard we are standing on is called :

I told Chaplin "smile for Leif, he is in Canada waiting for you to come home"
Could he have made a bigger smile? I don't think so!

We walked past George Dock (in front of Pier Head), Albert Dock, Canning Dock, Georges Parade, Princes Dock, Princes Half Tide Dock and up to East Waterloo Dock.

(You should click on this photo to look at it full screen. Aren't the buildings across the water absolutely charming. Like where a hobit that wanted to live in a city would move to!)
This is Princes Dock, does it look old? It should because construction for it started in 1810. The old Dock is not open to the public, nor should it be, it really looked dangerous! Recently the city built a walk-way in front of the old dock, and put up a large fence to keep my child off the old decaying boards.

While down in this area we decided to stop into Underwater Street drop-in and see if Chaplin could start some job training.

Construction worker.

James Bond.
Papa & John - you might be able to shoot a potato out of this gun, but at the drop-in all that you could load it with was soft plastic balls.

  2. We got your package delivered to our door yesterday. It is sitting on the side table in the living room and Chaplin is very excited to open it. we will phone you tomorrow.

Liverpool is really big, and finding things to do is easy... it's finding the places according to google map that's hard!
